Infusion Gallery in the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture presents Tony Huckert’s showing of lathe-turned bowls. You’re invited to attend an opening with the artist during ArtWalk, March 13, from 5-8 p.m.
Huckert presents his sculptural vessels and containers, open and closed forms, natural-edged and individually hand-shaped wooden forms. The beauty created from simple pieces of tree is far from the raw form with which Huckert begins his artful process. He wants the viewer to visualize the tree’s life and how it responded to its environment, the water, drought, minerals in the ground, fire bugs, growing up in a fence row, bullets from hunters and wars gone by. All these things effect the growth of wood, from the closeness of the grain, colors in the wood, even things found in the wood that should not be there.
