tart is delighted to announce the grand opening of its new gallery space, tartoo! We’re tearing down walls to create a bigger and better tart! The new space, affectionately called ‘tartoo’, will be an adjoining gallery dedicated to emerging contemporary Montana artists. Paintings, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media will share wall space, with one wall dedicated to a featured ‘tartist of the month’. In an effort to give back to the community that has been so amazingly supportive, tartoo will also feature one non-profit a month to donate a portion of the proceeds to their efforts in the community.
A Grand Opening reception will be held during Art Walk Friday, November 12th, 2010 5-8pm. The first featured tartist in the new tartoo will be Missoula illustrator Courtney Blazon, with a series of drawings mounted on slate. Titled Bird Brains, the show features black and white pen illustrations of birds, rendered in Blazon’s characteristically off kilter, charmingly odd way. The artist and tart will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of the drawings to the Montana Raptor Conservation Center. The MRCC is a non-profit dedicated to caring for sick or injured birds to be re-released into the wild. A representative for the MRCC will be on hand during the opening reception to answer questions about the center.
Event will take place in tartoo, room #107B of the Emerson Center, 111 S. Grand Ave. in Bozeman. Call 582-0416 for more information. The show will be on display through December 8th.
