Wendy Marquis and Sarah Angst @ Artists’ Gallery

The Artists’ Gallery in the Emerson is excited to announce Wendy Marquis and Sarah Angst as the featured artists for the month of December. Marquis will present her captivating Montana paintings, and Angst will display her fun, new original linocuts. We invite you to meet the artists at a wine and cheese reception on the evening of Friday, December 10th from 5-8 p.m., during the Emerson Galleria Art Walk.

Wendy Marquis is constantly panning her surroundings for scenes to paint. She often combines different elements she comes across to create her own landscapes and to satisfy her aesthetic. She finds old rusty trucks, barns and buildings fascinating, and they exude character, history, and help her to tell a story. Sometimes she includes animals to give her scenes life and a sense of humor.

“To me, these are all treasures; symbols of simpler times that so many of us want to hold on to. When you look at my paintings, I invite you to feel Montana…feel the sun on your back and the intensity of color that exists here. I want you to be able to sit in front of my work, and savor this distinct time; feel a sense of place…a place that you want to linger in again and again.”

Sarah Angst will be unveiling her new, fun, and funky miniatures. With there striking colors, and playful subject matter Angst’s new work is a must see. Her charming cards, unique jewelry and captivating prints will be available for sale and all make excellent gifts this holiday season.
