Spatial Reasonings: Encaustics by Stacey Herries

Opening Reception Friday, February 11th 2011 5-8pm

Bozeman artist Stacey Herries presents a series of landscape and nature inspired abstracts in her show “Spatial Reasonings”. Encaustic paintings are created by a process of mixing melted beeswax, pigments, and resin, then fixing each layer with heat. They are known for their luminosity, as layers under layers glimmer and catch the eye. Herries adds photographs, drawings and found objects to the wax to create richly layered and textured landscapes. 20% of the proceeds from this show will be donated to the Bozeman Mental Health Center’s Open Arms Drop In Center. The show will be on display until March 10th, 2011.

The opening reception will coincide with tart’s 4th birthday and will feature a photo booth with Jessie Moore Photography, a tart tasting, tarttoo booth, giveaways, and more. Tarty party apparel is highly encouraged.
