Artists Wendy Marquis and Sali Jo Hand will be displaying new work during the month of June at the Artists’ Gallery in The Emerson.
Wendy Marquis attempts to straddle the place between past and present in her paintings. She tells the story of the 1954 tractor parked in a field of wildflowers, and the ’38 GMC resting next to a rancher’s fence. She hopes the viewer can sense the intensity of color here and the magnitude of Montana’s vistas as they appear under the big sky. Wendy has won the 2011 Cover Competition for American Artist Watercolor Magazine, her painting Bridger GMC will appear on the cover of June’s issue.
Sali Jo Hand combines her passion for art and horses in a series of black and white paintings depicting these spirited animals. Come to the Artists’ Gallery in the Emerson Center, to meet the artists at a wine and cheese reception on the evening of Friday, June 10th from 5-8 p.m., during the first Downtown Art Walk of the season.
