Artists Dede Christman and Geri Ward will be displaying new work during the month of August at the Artists’ Gallery in The Emerson.
Dede Christman has been exploring new shapes in earthenware clay with glazes reminiscent of the Yellowstone geyser colors. She has also created ‘totem like’ sculptures and abstract ‘beings’ in ceramic. To complement her pottery, Christman will be displaying her abstract, mixed media paintings with added papers to enhance their texture and color.
Although usually recognized for her whimsical and imaginative watercolors, Geri Ward is equally adept at rendering realistic scenes, especially of ducks and geese. Ward’s current exhibit is a brief return to nature and wildlife painting.
Come to the Artists’ Gallery in the Emerson Center, to meet the artists at a wine and cheese reception on the evening of Friday, August 12th from 5-8 p.m., during Bozeman’s Downtown Art Walk.
The Artists’ Gallery in the Emerson is pleased to present new artwork by, JAPribanic and Dede Christman, our featured artists for the month of September. We invite you to meet the artists at a wine and cheese reception on the evening of Friday, September 10th from 5-8 p.m., during Downtown Bozeman’s Art Walk.
From East to West is a collection of recent paintings by JAPribanic. Two paintings from the Maine shoreline will show her love for that part of the country whereas other paintings will reveal her soft spot for places close to home. Inspired by the landscape of Montana, the Maine shore and many places in Europe as well, JAPribanic has left behind her work as a chemist and taken up the paints, brushes and canvas that now fill her life. She has used oil paint for her current display although she sometimes works in watercolor.
EXPERIMENTS IN ENCAUSTIC will show new works by Dede Christman as she experiments with the art of painting with wax. Dede Christman took a workshop with Shawna Moore from Whitefish, this past winter and was intrigued by the crossover of the texturing techniques in the clay and the wax. She will also have new shapes and glazes in her clay work. One of those will be a ‘pillow’ shape. Come by and see the new and experimental works and tell her what you think.
Take a closer look at the Yellowstone geysers; upclose and abstract. Dede Christman, painting in oil, has done just that. Already known for her lovely clay bowls inspired by Yellowstone’s hot pools, Dede will join Sally Jo Hand at the Artist’s Gallery in the Emerson Cultural Center for the season’s first Art Walk on Friday, May 8, from 5-8p.m.
Sally Jo Hand has always seen Art as a spiritual journey, a joining of both her love of pastels, oils, and watercolors with a reverence for enriching people’s lives. She has an MA in both Art Therapy and Divinity, and will be delighted to share her creative, heartfelt approach to life. We hope you can join us.
Artists Dede Christman, Barbara Allen Dillon, and Bonni Glock will be featured during the month of July at the Artists’ Gallery in the Emerson, 111 S. Grand Ave, Bozeman.
The Gallery invites the public to a wine and cheese reception on Friday, July 11th, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
Dede Christman is presently exploring and creating variations of surfaces using textures to create animal forms in relief. In addition she will present her Yellowstone bowls which evoke landscape forms of the paint pots. Dede is also exploring combinations of shapes and surfaces in maquette form to ultimately become outdoor sculptures.
Barbara Allen Dillon’s show inspired by “Climate Exchange” will consist of new paintings, flameworked glass sculptures and mixed media, visualizing the ‘upside’ of global warming.
Bonni Glock, an abstract painter, will be showing a series of ideoforms, influenced by Paul Klee and Joan Miro.
