Sweet Pea art show at the Library

The Sweet Pea Juried and Open Art Shows will once again be held in the Atrium Gallery at the Bozeman Public Library. A seamless exhibition of juried and open artwork in diverse media will feature many talented artists. The public is invited to attend the opening reception 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 4. The show runs from Thursday, August 4 to Friday, August 26, and may be viewed during the library’s normal business hours: Monday–Thursday, 10am–8pm; and Friday–Saturday, 10am–5pm.

Sweet Pea poster and T-shirt contests

Sweet Pea Festival 2010 is sponsoring its annual poster contest and a $1,000 prize for this year’s festival poster winner. All ages and levels of expertise are encouraged to enter. Deadline for entries is April 30.

Sweet Pea Festival also announces its second annual T-Shirt Art Contest. All levels of expertise are encouraged to enter. There are two categories for entrants — for ages 5 through 13 and ages 14 and up — with grand prize winners in each. Winning designs will be used on this year’s Sweet Pea Festival t-shirts. Deadline for entries is April 9.

Call for art: Sweet Pea Juried and Open Art Shows

The Bozeman Public Library is the featured venue for the Sweet Pea Festival‘s Juried and Open Art Shows. Both shows will be displayed in the Library’s Atrium Gallery between Thursday, August 6th and Wednesday, August 26th. All artists and the public are invited to the shows’ opening reception on Thursday, August 6th between 6 and 8 p.m. in the Library’s Large Community Room.

The Juried & Open Art Shows are open to all artists. However, artists may only enter one piece of work. In an effort to allow greater participation in the shows, hanging artwork shall not exceed the size of 3 feet x 4 feet. Only original artwork designed and executed within the last two years, and not previously shown in past juried shows, is eligible for the Juried Show participation. The Open Show is a non-juried and non-competitive exhibition. Artwork in any medium is acceptable, but acceptance is also conditional upon examination for extreme fragility or size. Please keep in mind that artwork will be located in an area heavily frequented by the public. Artwork also must be finished and ready for professional hanging. If artwork requires special handling, it must be accompanied by the artist’s written instructions. All artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.

Deadlines are July 31 for hand-delivered art works, and July 29 for arrival of shipped artworks. More information is available on the Sweet Pea web site.

Sweet Pea call for entries

This year the Sweet Pea Festival is sponsoring a T-shirt art contest, as well as their traditional poster contest. First prize for the T-shirt design is $500; there is also a youth category with a $100 prize. The prize for best poster is $1000. More information and application forms are on the Sweet Pea web site. Deadlines are April 23 for the T-shirt contest and April 30 for the poster contest. That’s for receipt of mailed entries. Hand-delivery is possible until 4pm the follwoing day in each case. The Sweet Pea Juried and Open Art Shows will be displayed in the Bozeman Public Library from July 31st and Friday, August 29th. All artists and the public are invited to the opening reception on Thursday, July 31st at 6 p.m., in the Public Library’s Large Conference Room.

Delivery & Deadlines
Hand Delivered: Artwork must be hand delivered to the Bozeman Public Library, 626 East Main Street, Bozeman, on Monday, July 28th between 12 and 5 p.m. Application form and entry fee will be collected at that time, as well as the optional artist statment. If the artist is unable to hand deliver on July 28th, the work must be shipped to arrive by July 21, or special arrangements must be made with the Art Show Chair.
